利物浦參加來屆歐聯賽事, 並非是"格外開恩"!
小弟忍不住, 走了去歐聯的網頁, 看清楚歐聯冠軍參賽資格的規則, 發現其實寫得相當清楚...根據1.03條, "At the request of the national association concerned, the UEFA Champions League title-holders may be entered for this competition, as an additional representative of that association, if they have not qualified for the UEFA Champions League via the top domestic league championship. If, in such a case, the title holders come from an association entitled to enter four teams for the UEFA Champions League, the fourth-placed club in the top domestic league championship has to be entered for the UEFA Cup."
第一, 條例講明歐聯冠軍是有"機會"參賽, 不過, 主動權卻給予了該球隊所屬的國家決定. 而因為1.01條講明, "no association may enter more than four clubs for the competition", 所以此1.03條澄清了若該"歐聯冠軍"真的參賽, 聯賽第四位的球隊如何處置, 就是參加歐洲足協盃.
第二, 根據1.03條, 情況並不僅是為上屆冠軍衛冕而設的, 因為它用了"UEFA Champions League title-holders"的眾數字眼. 即是過去曾經成為歐聯冠軍的球隊同樣有這樣的"特權". 不過, 1.01條已經講明, "For representation in the 2005/06 competition, the seasons from 1999/2000 to 2003/04 inclusive are taken into account." 即是說, 凡於1999/2000至2003/04年度的歐聯冠軍均應有機會以1.03條進入來屆歐聯賽事. 只不過, 這幾年的歐聯冠軍, 除了利物浦外, 均於本季成功在本土聯賽賽事贏取參賽資格, 而毋須運用此條例罷了.
所以, 利物浦應該繼續向英格蘭足總施壓, 讓它可以參加來季歐聯賽事, 因為條例本身已作相當清楚說明, 只不過為了尊重各地足總的自主權, 保留了"at the request of the national association"的字眼罷了.
這並不是一些球評家或記者般所言, 是"特權", 是"例外", 是"格外開恩", 而是歐聯一開始的遊戲規則而已.

我覺得這是一個陰謀: 英足總利用這次事件去為本土多爭一個歐聯席位!
我也聽過這樣一個說法. 但歐聯規則既然講明沒有國家聯賽可以派出多過四隊, 若然因此而犧牲了明明有份參賽的利物浦, 英國足總實在太卑鄙了!
